See Our Christmas Loot!

Ho! Ho! Ho!... see our christmas loot!!

Back row (L to R): Doraemon gift from a shopping complex (its placed here coz its still a gift), scale model for daddy, organic fruit juice for mummy & daddy, organic 3-grain porridge for baby zen (wah... baby so young already so healthy!)

Oh, and also the early christmas present of a tea tray for daddy...

Concert Nearby?

Its 12:30am and why am I not asleep? Coz there seems to be a mini concert nearby our house... Not that I wanna go and watch.. my concert days are over! Now, its all about baby music... hehehe...

Anyway, the reason for my insomnia is because this concert is blaring music thru its speakers and its quite loud! I can hear the MC talking and songs being played... But its not like we stay anywhere near really happenings places, our housing area is quite peaceful (usually).. sigh

Luckily baby zen is sleeping and seems oblivious to it... for the moment.. am hoping it stays this way.. Anyone knows if there are any authorities that we can highlight (read: complain) to? :-)

**************************************************************************
Am born in the month of March and can't help but noticed that I'm supposed to be "musically talented"! My hubby will be the first to tell you that I'm so totally not... once he has finished ROTFLOL (Rolling On The Floor Laughing Out Loud)! :-)

Am tagging Nightwing and KM

Ireland and I

Having grew up on a healthy diet of Enid Blytons and Shakespeare (simplified English version of course!) and stories of medieval knights and sorcerers, my childhood dream was to travel to the UK and Ireland... as I grew up I discovered Irish coffee and Irish dance and U2... love the dance and U2 (who wouldn't) but did not get to indulge more in the coffee :-)

I have yet to visit Ireland (sigh) but would really love to in the near future... been doing some research on traveling in Ireland and Ireland hotels. Dublin would be a good entry point with it being the capital of the Republic of Ireland. The other interesting cities would be Cork (for its arts and music festivals) and Belfast (for its heritage). These 3 cities are of the larger cities in Ireland. The other places that's definitely in my to-visit list is the Cliffs of Moher and Blarney Castle.

Since I would love to visit the above cities, was also checking out accommodation. Apparently, hotels are aplenty here and ranges from very affordable to higher end, from simple Irish charm hotels to staying in castles! I think I'll choose Dublin hotels that are within the city, Cork hotels that are near Blarney Castle and Belfast hotels that offers spa. Ahh.. that would be a dream come true indeed...

For me, the year 2007 had a lot of happiness (and hope for 2008). Happiness because i see my son, grow and grow day by day. I have a great husband. I met lots of new friends from around the world via blogging ^_^ - Juliana RW

In 2007, I become happier than before because my hubby’s got promotion and sure his salary had been increased. This had made my life more comfortable but everything seemed to cost an arm and a leg nowadays. The happiest memory is I see Nelson’s tummy becoming bigger and bigger, he can now count number 1 to number 10, by my guidance. He loves eating and he enjoys every meal. He gives us a lot of happiness by the way he mimic our talking style and making such lovely faces. At first, I was so scared to look after him but now I hope he can be with me all the time. Even I feel tired everyday but I feel my life is meaningful.
Hazel

Looking back at 2007, it signifies a few milestones of my life.. the major one of course being the birth of baby zen.. awwww... He was absolutely a delight, though there were times when we were so worried he was not getting enough milk.. as he wasn't gaining weight as much as he should. Now, looking at him, we feel that we had done something right in our lifetime to deserve such such a wonderful baby.. Thank you hubby for giving us baby zen :-)

The Convenience of Doing Business in Australia

A friend of mine (who travels extensively in the Asia Pacific region) made a comment the other day that he loves to go to Australia for business. According to him, Australia is one of the most businessman-friendly country he has ever been to.

His typical trip includes flying in the day before his meetings and check into a CBD (central business district) hotel be it in Sydney or Perth or Melbourne. Then he will purchase a postcard and stamps from the hotel and mailed it back to his daughter (she collects them). He likes the fact that he does not need to go all the way to a post office to get his stamps.

If he is short of the Australian currency (as he nearly always seemed to be since he is constantly in a rush before his trips thus leaving no time to visit the money changer), there's always ATM's conveniently located outside the CBD hotels, in petrol stations, supermarkets, shops etc. There's also the other alternative of using credit cards, which are also commonly accepted.

Should he need the bank's facilities for his business deals, he could pop over to one of the banks nearby to complete the necessary paperworks. The bank's office hours seemed pretty long and some banks even offer selected facilities on Saturdays mornings too. That's convenience for a business traveler.

Magical Milestone's Facelift

Was getting a little bored with the previous look so went around searching for a new theme for Magical Milestone... found a few that I like here but just when I wanted to confirm changing themes, there was this message on Blogger informing me that certain widgets (like the blogroll!!) would be deleted and if I wanted to proceed! I hit the Cancel button instantly...

Apparently, I found out that this is quite a normal "problem" for those wanting to change themes. There were tutorials on how to save the widgets (like the blogroll) and reapply them to the new themes but for an HTML / XML illiterate like yours truly, it was all Greek / French / Spanish language!

So, after days (yes... days!) of researching and trial & error, I decided to go ahead and make the change... I think its the sickly me that was doing the thinking then... and I lost my blogroll...

Sigh.. so here I was trying to remember everyone's blog names and goggle-ing / checking others' blogs for them.. so if you couldn't find yours, please please do let me know and I'll re-link you ya... my apologies...

PS: Am felling much better now.. thanks for all the kind wishes everyone... :-)
PPS: Christmas feast... here I come!!!

Down with Flu

Sigh... now it's my turn... am down (but not out yet) with flu... a minor one (thank goodness) but still enough to make me feel sickly.. Hopefully I won't pass it to baby zen and hubby...

What a timing! Its the holiday season and all... double sighhhhh... will not be able to blog hop as much as I planned to... sorry... but as The Terminator says "Hasta la Vista! I'll be back!"

"awww... poor mummy is sick.. so I can't bully her..."

Misia's You're Everything

You have GOT to listen to this song... trust me, it's really good!! Okie.. am a bit biased... but do give it a try and let me know if you like it ya...

Singer is Misia and the song is in Japanese but found this video which has translated subtitle (in case you wanna sing along.. hehe) as well as the English meaning to the song. We love this song... one of our all-time favorite.. It's taken from a Japanese dorama "Yamato Nadeshiko" which by the way is also one of our favorite too :-) Enjoy!

Building An Online Business

Was talking to a friend of mine who was contemplating of starting her own online business, selling baby products... and she was telling me one of the thing that's giving her a huge headache now is the ecommerce part... Apparently, even though there's so many ecommerce solution in the market, it's not easy to select one that combines reliability and user friendly...

This was until she heard about this shopping cart software from Ashop... The fact that it had helped so many merchants in their business proves that this software is one of the better ones in market. Some of its features include accepting credit cards in real time, which I think is vital in any business, as well as user friendly where one can update web content easily. The other great thing about it is they constantly provides upgrades and updates and these are done at no extra charges too...

While my friend tries out their free demo, so could you too especially if you are planning to start an online business...

Pasta Fun

Was busy over the weekend with hubby outstation and my dad around and a little hyper-active baby to look after... sorry guys, didn't managed to blog-hop as much as I would love to :-) Haven't seen my dad for awhile so had to do some catching up with him (between you and me, I suspect he was more interested in baby zen than his daughter!! but its okie, it not always he gets to see his grandson, his first grandson for that matter)

Hubby came back on Sunday evening... poor thing... was tired out... after having driven almost 400km (normally he takes the flight but this time he didn't) My dad also just left and we both decided to cook something simple for dinner... pasta with Campbell's Cheese and Herbs pasta sauce with hotdog and top with fried bacon.. yummy... That looks a lot doesn't it? And yes, that's one person's portion and yes, we both finished ours :-)

... and a close up ...

Need That Extra Bit Of Money?

Finding yourself wishing you had bit more money to spend... especially with the gift-giving season just around the corner? Or that the month was shorter so that payday is nearer? Well, you can opt for online payday loans if you are in such situation...

This online cash advance is for those who find themselves needing urgent and unsecured loans and payday is unfortunately still a few days away... It does provide a better alternative to some fund sourcing methods like pawning jewelery (where you might get less than what the jewelery is worth) and borrowing from loan sharks (now, we all know high the rates are and the consequences of paying up).

This online cash advance has an edge over the traditional walk-in-for-a-loan method in the sense that online provides anonymity since you can do it at home.
There are many different payday loans offered, even one specially for women :-)

Christmas Presents in Advance

Christmas is early this year!! Hubby has gotten his Christmas presents already.... well, just one of them anyway...

This was present from hubby's sister to him. We went for dinner together and she asked what he wants for Christmas, he replied and she bought... very fast transaction! No need to wrap too!

For those unfamiliar with chinese tea drinking utensils, the above whatchamacallit is something like a tea tray cum strainer, where tea cups and pots are placed on top and tea/water that are not drunk can be pour onto the tray. There's a container below this tray to catch these tea/water.

And this is the tea set that hubby got (read: took with permission) from his dad's collection...

So it looks like instead of eggnog, we'll be having tea this Christmas... :-) Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday in advance everybody!

And You Think You Had A Bad Hair Day?

Wait till you watch Sunsilk's Lovebites! This is a 2-minute per episode series (there are 60 episodes) about Callie, a 25 year-old assistant style editor at Elle.com who is going through her quarter-life crisis! For those who are fans of TV3, you would be able to see some similarity to Impian Illyana...

Lovebites is into its season two now and is absolutely hilarious! It follows Callie and her friends' lives and how they deal with work, play, life, love and hair style! I had fun watching them discuss these issues. Have downloaded one episode below, do check it out...

There's also a section on free hair-do consultation quiz. Hey... now you know where to go for some bad-hair-day therapy... :-)

Yet Another Attempted Robbery

This time it was my aunt-in-law! After the previous attempt, we had warned a lot of people to be extra careful.... never would I thought it would happen in my family again and in such a short time too!

This happened last week on a weekday, my aunt-in-law was just returning home from doing her morning marketing with her daughter (in SS2, Petaling Jaya). They saw 3 men walking towards them and felt suspicious. These men then approached them and asked for road directions so my aunt-in-law thought they were lost and let her guard down... this was when one of them strike! He suddenly took out a knife and slashed my aunt-in-law! Her daughter (who was holding the groceries) threw the groceries at the guy and got slashed too...

Luckily, there were some men nearby and they saw what happened and shouted and that scared the 3 men off.... before they could grab anything valuable... My aunt-in-law had to go for stitches but she's doing fine now...

So, dear friends, please do be careful ya...

'Tis The Season To Be Travelling

Ahhh.... its the year end... and year ends nearly always put one in a holiday and traveling mood... what with school holidays and the need to clear leaves, most would be looking for places to travel to...

For those still contemplating on where to go, you may want to consider Gold Coast, Australia. And now, finding hotels in Gold Coast has been made easier! What's so exciting about it is it provides year round as well as last minute holiday planning, has choices from 3 to 5 star hotels to beach-side serviced apartments. You can choose the type of hotel based on the type of entertainment you like for your holidays. There are hotels in surfers paradise, in world renowned parks as well as near sporting centres. Take your pick.

Or if its a less adrenalin-pumping holiday you are looking for, you may want to consider Adelaide. Hotels in Adelaide featured here are affordable and are near to a lot of attractive locations like the beaches and the wineries. To those planning for a holiday to Gold Coast and Adelaide, have a wonderful Ausie experience...

Self-Esteem vs Self-Destruction?

This is one topic that is very close to my heart.. It has been said that girls these days develop low self-esteem from being insecure about how they measure up in current society's view, be it beauty or intelligence etc... How true, which is such a pity though.. Have we evolve to the point that society's approval meant more than anything else?

Do allow me to share a personal experience... I have a good friend who was in the same pre-u class and we got along great. She was brilliant in the Accounting subject and was in fact teacher's pet and I remembered phoning her for "free tuition"... She wasn't exactly beauty pageant material though I think she's above average looking... but she's always saying she was not as pretty as xxx and not as smart as yyy...

We opted and got into the same Uni but she had to drop off midway (reason: couldn't adapt to the environment) and took a professional accountancy course instead (which she passed of course)... but this incident sort of made her feel more insecure and her self-esteem took a huge blow...

After graduation, we both began to lead separate lives and communication grew less and less. And then things took a turn for the worse... I knew something was not right when she seldom answer my call or reply my messages.. (yeah... like I'm some big shot!) It took her quite awhile before she confided in me that she was involved with a married man and it turned nasty when the wife found out and soon, my friend was out of the scene (please don't lecture me on this ya).. I offered her my shoulder (I didn't believe I was in any position to judge her). Then, before she got over it emotionally, she was involved with another married man and in another mess... To make the story short, these led her into depression and she couldn't stay very long in one job. She had to see a psychiatrist and was on medication... It was very painful for me to see her like this...

The reason I'm writing this is that I felt it was her low self-esteem that caused these.. She had always felt she was never good enough, be it her physical appearance or mental abilities or language commands etc..

I'm sure a lot of girls went through what my friend went through, some may not be as bad and some may be worse... Realising this, Dove is running the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty in an effort to help make a change. Was hoping you would do the same and help the next generation of girls to foster self-esteem and fulfill a greater cause in life...

PS: Dear friend, if you so happen to read this post, know that you are indeed someone very special. Be brave and may you be strong enough to conquer all of life's challenges... take care..

Holiday Part II

Pictures paint a thousand words... so here's more on our recent trip, this time on food... :-)

we had this gelati (which was ok lah but a bit pricey ie 2 small scoops for RM6)...

... and this pepperoni pizza
(which was absolutely delicious and one of the best I ever had. Was so good that we forgot to take picture until we've had a few pieces! Look how cheesy it was)...

... at this small shop owned (I presumed) by this Italian guy who speaks pretty good Malay!

We also had this famous Lucky King Restaurant's curry chicken bread (which was overrated, in our opinion). It's curry chicken inside a plastic bag and then wrapped by bread dough and baked...

... a close-up... the curry chicken was pretty good though.

"those look yummy... where's my share?"

Ahh.. A Break At Last...

Been away for a short break... went to Port Dickson... stayed at The Legend Water Chalet... came back in one piece but so exhausted that we now need another break to recuperate from this break! Here's some photos.. will upload more later ya.... zzzz *woke up when remembered the pile of laundry*

our room... yup, the bathroom greets you first before the bedroom

night view of the chalet

the corridor outside our room...

baby zen approved of his first hotel bed

hey look... no hands!

oh, there's a cute baby girl there... let me wolf whistle her...
